Who we are

A nationwide team helping people live well, independently.

Next Step Care Management (NSCM) was one of the first organisations in the UK to offer a real alternative to residential care — giving people the dignity of their own front door, with the right support beside them. Today we work across the country, providing accommodation and outreach to thousands of young people and adults at risk.

“We don't expect anyone to live anywhere we wouldn't live ourselves.”

Our approach

Four steps, one shared destination: independence.

No two journeys look the same. We meet people where they are and walk with them — at their pace — towards a life they choose for themselves.

  1. 01

    Welcome & settle

A safe, good-quality home with furniture, white goods and the essentials in place — in an area where it feels right to come and go freely.

  2. 02

    Build everyday skills

Budgeting, cooking, health, hygiene and routines — practical life skills, taught with patience and built into daily living.

  3. 03

    Grow in confidence

Education, training, work and positive relationships — encouragement to set goals, make good decisions and believe in what's next.

  4. 04

    Step into independence

The support gently steps back as confidence grows, until independent living isn't a goal any more — it's simply life.

Person-centred, always

Flexible, responsive, built around the person.

Our packages flex to fit real lives — from light-touch outreach to intensive, supervised support. We respond quickly, plan carefully, and review constantly, so the support always matches the moment.

  • Needs-led plans, reviewed as people grow
  • Outreach from a few hours a week to 24/7
  • Skilled, experienced and qualified support workers
  • Joined-up working with social workers and commissioners

Who we support

Specialist support, for complex needs.

Few providers cover this much ground. Whatever the starting point, we tailor the right placement and the right people around it.

Parent & child

Supportive placements that keep families together while parenting skills and confidence grow.

Mental health & adults at risk

Patient, recovery-focused support for adults living with mental ill-health or vulnerability.

Bail support & alternative to custody

Structured accommodation and supervision offering a constructive alternative to custody.

Exploitation & CSE

Safe, trauma-informed support for young people affected by exploitation and sexual exploitation.

And more

Emergency placements, respite for foster carers, appropriate adult, dyslexia screening, animal-assisted therapy and outreach.

A place to call home

Good homes, in the right places.

We provide good-quality accommodation suited to each person — fully furnished, with white goods and essential items ready from day one. We choose locations that are safe, connected and somewhere people are glad to come home to.
